Mr. Gablu
There was no such thing as peace in Gablu's life. His wife's screams when he woke up in the morning, the chatter of customers in the shop at noon, the cries and excuses of his children at night. All in all, his life had become like hell.
His small family was in a corner of North Haven village. When his father died, he left him a ten-bighar walled forest, a medium-sized old house, and a wood shop. As grand as it sounds, the situation is actually more miserable.
The forest was once dense. The villagers said that even at noon, sunlight did not penetrate properly. But Gablu's family expenses were such that he had to cut down almost all the trees one by one and sell them.
On top of that, Gablu's wife Zia was a terrible fan. Where other girls in the village were happy to buy a saree once a year, Jhuma wanted a new saree every month. With a headband on her forehead, lipstick on her lips, flowers in her hair, and glass bangles in her hands, she always dressed like a movie heroine.
