Incognito
Henry, a renowned officer of the Crime Branch, was sitting in SP Sir's room waiting. It was raining heavily outside. Water was slowly trickling down the window pane. The entire headquarters was unusually quiet.
SP Sir picked up a thick file kept on the table and extended it towards Henry. He said in a serious voice,
“We have to find this polymorphous person at any cost.”
Henry took the file. Written in red ink on the cover...
“Code name: Incognito”
Another line below...
“No real identity.”
Henry frowned and opened the file. Inside were pictures one after another. But the strange thing was, each picture showed a different person. Some were old, some were middle-aged businessmen, some were taxi drivers, some were hospital ward boys.
Henry said,
“These are all different people.”
SP slowly shook his head.
“No. They are all one person.”
The room suddenly felt cold.
The SP said,
“This man has been behind some of the most perfect crimes in the city in the last seven years. But no one has been able to catch him. No fingerprints, no real photo, no real name. Just a name. An impostor.”
Henry listened quietly.
“He never appears twice with the same face. He changes his makeup, his voice, his mannerisms. He even went undercover for three months once inside the police.”
Henry’s eyes fell on a page of the file.
